Hollis – A Hollis resident celebrated a special milestone recently. Rosemary Todd celebrated 101 years of life on July 15. Rosemary Haughton Campbell Hunt was born in 1909 in New Jersey and grew up on Staten Island and in Manhattan. She graduated from Cornell University, where she was president of her sorority, Delta Delta Delta.

The Granite State Senior Games has released its schedule for this National Senior Games Association qualifying year. The national competition will be held in Houston in 2011. All senior athletes – age 50 and older – from New Hampshire and the rest of New England must qualify for entry into the National Senior Games. Early bird applications must be postmarked by June 1.

NASHUA – A dozen ladies in their 90s were guests of honor at a Silver Tea luncheon, hosted by the Nashua Senior Activity Center, on Saturday, April 24. Many wore white gloves and their fanciest hats to the event, held in the center’s spacious dining hall.

NASHUA – Seniors Count-Nashua is seeking volunteers to do yard work for Nashua seniors. Volunteers will lend a hand to seniors who are physically or financially unable to get their yards cleaned up. They’ll rake, clear out flower beds and clean up small branches, pine cones and similar debris. The month-long project will start Saturday, April 17, with a kickoff celebration at 8 a.m.

HUDSON – New Hampshire Charitable Foundation advisory board members Colleen O’Connell and Peter Tamposi witnessed some of the work being done by Mission Pointe on a recent visit to its Blessed John XXIII Day Away Program at Mission Pointe. The activity-based social respite program is offered to individuals with early stage Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias. It provides a much needed break for family caregivers while engaging its seniors in crafts, word and memory games and bowling, which help the participants remain mentally and physically fit. The program is largely staffed by volunteers.
