Hudson Litchfield Rotary raising money to eradicate polio

HUDSON – In celebration of Rotary International’s 105th anniversary, the Hudson Litchfield Rotary Club, along with Rotary clubs worldwide, is working to raise $200 million toward a $355 million challenge grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to eradicate polio globally. The resulting $555 million will directly support immunization in developing countries where polio continues to infect and paralyze children.

Alvirne High School has adopted a new college application program called Naviance, an innovative tool that allows everything to be sent from the high school to colleges electronically, including applications, supplements, fees, letters of recommendation and transcripts.

HUDSON – Police arrested a local man in connection with three brush fires that broke out earlier this week in the northeast section of town. Adam Nagle, 29, was arrested Thursday and charged with three counts of reckless conduct and three counts of kindling a fire without a permit, all misdemeanors, police said.
