Info on China tour set
MERRIMACK – People interested in going on a community trip to China can learn the details at an informational night next week.
The Merrimack Chamber of Commerce has paired with a travel company to offer nine-day, all-inclusive excursions to China this fall for $2,000 a person. Some 75 people attended an initial information session in January, and 47 people have confirmed reservations, said Deb Courtemanche, executive director of the chamber. The trip will top out at 100 travelers.
Due to the response, a second informational night has been scheduled for the Jade Dragon Restaurant on Daniel Webster Highway at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. The meeting will feature Peter Liu from Citslinc International, the California-based travel company that specializes in setting up tours of China. The company, which works with chambers of commerce to set up excursions, is endorsed by the N.H. Business and Industry Association and the American Chamber of Commerce Executives. Citslinc controls fares through bulk rates and traveling off-season.
The trip includes transportation to and from JFK Airport in New York City, round-trip international airfare, hotel stays, meals per day, English-speaking tour guides, city transportation and admissions to tours and attractions.
Stops will include the Shanghai World Expo, Tianamen Square, the Temple of Heaven, the Great Wall of China, and visits to silk embroidery demonstrations, temples, tea houses and more. There will also be opportunities for people to make business contacts and schedule optional tours.
