The Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation of New Hampshire honored two members with Granite State Fellow recognition during the 50th Annual Multiple District 44 Mid-Winter Convention held Jan. 30-31 in Nashua. Recognized for the service to the Association was International Director Beverly Stebbins of Arlington, Texas, guest speaker for the weekend and immediate past International Director Ed Lecius of the Nashua Lions Club, who completed his two year term on the LCI Board this past July. The Foundation assists local Lions clubs around the state in providing eye care and hearing assistance to those in need. During their session, the Lions from around the state donated almost $13k to the Lions Clubs International Foundation for their Haiti Relief efforts.

Amherst
Lions Club to hold roast beef supper
AMHERST – The Amherst Lions Club will host its fourth annual Roast Beef Supper at the Amherst Middle School, 14 Cross Road, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for children younger than 12.
Tickets available at the Amherst Post Office from 9 a.m.-noon Saturdays, from any Amherst Lions or at the door.
Profits will go to the Lions Clubs International Campaign Sight First Two, which is a world-wide effort with a goal to save the sight of 64 million people.
Historical society to host professor
Join the Historical Society of Amherst as it welcomes Professor Jere Daniell, of Dartmouth College, to discuss the Indian Stream Republic. The program is sponsored by the New Hampshire Humanities Council and will take place on Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Congregational Church in Amherst.
The evening is free of charge, and refreshments will be served afterwards.
Garden club to host master gardener
Today, the Amherst Garden Club will present Barbara Emerson, a master gardener and past president of the Mailorder Gardening Association, who will speak on integrating edible plants in the ornamental garden.
The meeting, held at the Amherst Congregational Church, will begin at 9 a.m. with refreshments and a short business meeting followed by the program at 10:30 a.m.
Amherst Garden Club meetings are free and open to all.
Republicans to meet at Joey’s Diner
The Amherst Republicans monthly meeting will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at Joey’s Diner on Route 101A.

SVRW to host newcomer’s coffee
AMHERST – The Souhegan Valley Republican Women will host a Newcomer’s Coffee at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Amherst. The speaker will be state Rep. Nancy Elliott, R-Merrimack, president of New Hampshire Federation of Republican Women.

New meeting place for Republicans
The Brookline-Mason Republican Town Committee and Hollis Republican Town Committee will hold a joint meeting Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be at the Brookline Auction Gallery, 32 Proctor Hill Road, Brookline.

Rotary’s Super Bowl Sunday brunch
Every year since 1997, on Super Bowl Sunday, the Hollis Brookline Rotary Club, supported by its partners and other sponsors, has presented its Super Bowl Sunday Brunch.
For the pre-sale price of $16 ($20 at the door, and children younger than 12 are free), 40 or so Rotarians, assisted by a platoon of Hollis/Brookline High School Interact Club members, present a buffet of eggs, bacon, a steamer roast, grits, pancakes and more, including assorted desserts and a bottomless supply of coffee.
Every ticket purchaser is eligible to win the $100 door prize, and two different raffles offer an array of items, including a brand-new Panasonic 50-inch HD TV.
The contributions to the brunch provide about half of the total amount of charitable funds available to Rotary each year.
Come to the Rotary/Interact Big Game Brunch on Sunday from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. See any Hollis Brookline Rotarian or go to the Hollis Pharmacy to purchase tickets.

Clean out closets for club’s yard sale
The Hollis Woman’s Club is sponsoring a giant yard sale Saturday, April 17, from 8-11 a.m. at the Lawrence Barn.
If you’d like to sell your treasures, you can buy a space for $20 and bring your own table, or the club can provide one for $25 on a first-come, first-served basis. Set up will be Friday from 6-8 p.m.

Rotary Club of Merrimack
The Rotary Club of Merrimack has its weekly meetings Thursdays at 7:15 a.m. at the John O’Leary Adult Community Center, 4 Church St.
Each meeting includes an informative guest speaker, hot breakfast buffet and an introduction to Rotary. The meeting ends by 8:30 a.m.
The Rotary Club of Merrimack is a volunteer service organization supporting local communities with donations and scholarships. Other Merrimack Rotary projects have included scholarships to graduating high school seniors, support for Merrimack Flood Relief, the Merrimack July Fourth festivities, The Rotary 4 Way Speech Contest, the Interact Program, field lighting at Reeds Ferry Fields and many other projects.

‘Baked Beans and Fried Clams’
The Merrimack Historical Society will host “Baked Beans and Fried Clams,” a humorous view of New England foods, by Edie Clark, provided by a grant from the N.H. Humanities Council.
This will be informative, humorous and full or nuggets about the history of regional foods and how the changing times have affected the way New Hampshire residents eat.
The program will be held at the Merrimack Public Library at 7 p.m. Feb. 16 and is free of charge.

Richelieu Club to host lunch meeting
The Richelieu Club of Nashua will hold a luncheon Feb. 14 at the Radisson Hotel, off Spitbrook Road.
Representatives from the Nashua Soup Kitchen & Shelter and Corpus Christi Food Pantry have been invited to the luncheon, where they will each be presented with a check from the Richelieu Club.

Circle of Parents support group
A Circle of Parents parent support group has been scheduled to meet every other week at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua. This ongoing parent discussion group offers support and educational resources for parents having children of any age. Parents who attend are invited to discuss specific issues that they are faced with at home. The group also features guest speakers on a variety of parenting and family topics.
There is no charge to attend the group. Free child care is available if needed. Parents can come to one or all meetings of the group.
The program is offered at the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Nashua, 47 Grand Ave. It runs from 6:30-8 p.m.
The presentation is offered through the Family Resource Center of Greater Nashua. Dorothy Whittaker of Child and Family Services leads the discussion.
Upcoming program dates include Tuesday and Feb. 23.
Limited childcare is available and must be requested in advance by calling Kurt at the Boys & Girls Club at 883-0523.
The Family Resource Center of Greater Nashua provides an on-going schedule of programs on a variety of topics. All are offered free of charge at the Boys & Girls Club. Complimentary child care is available at many programs.
Rotary Exemplary Workers’ Breakfast
Nashua West Rotary Club will hold the club’s 18th annual Exemplary Workers Breakfast at Nashua’s Crowne Plaza Hotel on March 9.
The Exemplary Workers Breakfast is a celebration of the spirit and dedication of Nashua’s work force to the local economy. Local companies are invited to nominate their workers for recognition in front of dignitaries from the area.
Last year’s event saw more than 320 attendees who witnessed more than 180 Exemplary Workers receive recognition at the 17th annual event.
