Direct Your Career Club coming to Amherst
Published: Friday, January 22, 2010
The Direct Your Career Club is a 10-week career club to help unemployed and underemployed local residents get back to work. The program is an integral part of a national initiative developed by Tory Johnson, workplace contributor for Good Morning America, CEO for Women for Hire and author of the 2009 New York Times bestseller “From Fired to Hired.”
Sandy Demarest will be leader of the local career club and has been in the field of education and career development for the past 15 years.
Ideal members are unemployed, underemployed, recent graduates starting the process and career changers looking for an ongoing support system to stay motivated, willing to commit to attend each week and willing to share their knowledge and opinions. Members must be motivated and dedicated.
The Direct Your Career Club will meet Mondays from 8-9:30 a.m. at Cassidy’s Grille in Amherst and Mondays from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Souhegan Valley Chamber of Commerce, beginning Feb. 1. There will be a Career Club kick-off Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 5-6:30 p.m. at Cassidy’s Grille. This free event will provide information on the top job search strategies, networking opportunities and information about joining the Direct Your Career Club. The first Direct Your Career series will be a free event to kick off this community initiative.
