Concert band seeking drummer

Published: Sunday, January 17, 2010

MERRIMACK – Having resumed rehearsals for its 20th season, Merrimack Concert Band needs someone to provide drum rolls and a few extra beats as vacancies exist in the percussion section.

Although band members usually provide their own instruments, Merrimack Concert Association owns a full complement of percussion equipment. The band meets Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 p.m. in the Merrimack Middle School music room. For more details, call Band Director Anthony Varga at 429-1350.

Under the umbrella of Merrimack Concert Association, both the Merrimack Concert Band and Merrimack Chorus are looking for new members to participate in this milestone year. Membership offers an opportunity to sharpen one’s skills and an introduction to a group of dedicated musicians who enjoy the artistic, recreational and educational experience of performing a wide variety of instrumental and vocal music for their family, friends and community.

An invitation to join both the chorus and the band extends to high school students as well as amateur and professional adult musicians. Membership is not limited to Merrimack residents. Auditions are not required.

The Merrimack Chorus, under the direction of Choral Director Sara Phelps, meets Sunday evenings from 7-9 p.m. at the John O’Leary Adult Community Center. Call Phelps at 424-7274 for more information.

MCA’s next performance is at Merrimack High School at 7:30 pm Saturday, March 20.

To become better acquainted with the concert performance schedule, purchase tickets or band and chorus membership, contact Merrimack Concert Association Executive Director Laurie Ludvigsen at 424-0558, info@merrimackconcert.org or visit www.merrimackconcert.org.
