WLC concert includes original performances

Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative got into the holiday spirit by hosting a holiday concert at the school on Tuesday.
Many talented students performed at the event, including singers and instrumentalists. Along with the holiday songs, some students performed songs and instrumental pieces they wrote themselves.
Junior Nikki Marks sang “Winter Wonderland” and got a huge round of applause. Senior Ruth Kemmerer sang “Grown Up Christmas List,” a song that has a strong message everyone should listen to. Kemmerer also sang a song from “The Grinch Who Stole Christmas” called “Where Are You, Christmas?”
Senior Curtis Guild performed two songs that he wrote with the help of juniors Stephen Dailey and Ian Harte, as well as senior George Minott. The songs were titled “All I Ask” and “Guided.”
There were eight instrumental pieces during the performance.
Sophomore Andrew Koutroubas played three pieces on his cello, with WLC music teacher Nancy Tong on bassoon. Koutroubas also played the cello in the WLC band’s pieces.
The WLC band played three pieces, including “Rock Ellis Express,” “Christmas at the Movies” and “Toy Symphony.” For their last piece, they invited Vice Principal Sue Ballou and Principal John Ingram to the stage to help by playing small toy-like instruments.
After the concert, people seemed very much in the holiday spirit.
“The concert really got me in the Christmas spirit,” sophomore Carly Ayres said. “Overall, I think it was a wonderful performance.”
WLC has definitely done a great job in bringing the community together through something as simple as music.
Abi Walsh is a sophomore at Wilton-Lyndeborough Cooperative High School.
