HUDSON – The Nottingham West Lions Club, of Hudson, has announced the local winners for the 2009-10 annual Lions International Peace Poster Contest.
Students at the Hudson Memorial School competed for the chance to represent the Hudson Lions Club in the New Hampshire Multiple District 44H competition. Each of the school’s five winners was presented with a U.S. savings bond and a Certificate of Merit at a ceremony held in November.
The 2009-10 theme was “The Power of Peace,” which was nicely interpreted by this year’s second-time winner, Stephanie Jones.
Contest runners-up are Zoe Garas, Emily Walker, Emily Bass and Julia Balukonis.
The Peace Poster Contest is an international contest, sponsored by Lions Clubs International, for ages 11-13. Starting at the club level, a club’s winning poster is entered into the District Competition and, if successful, will continue to advance through the multiple district level and international levels.
