Donate to Brookline Woman’s Club food drive for SHARE

BROOKLINE – Every year, the Brookline Woman’s Club organizes a food donation collection service throughout the community of Brookline for SHARE, a food pantry which serves the communities of Brookline, Mont Vernon, Amherst and Milford.
Drop baskets have been placed at Richard Maghakian Memorial School and Captain Samuel Douglass Academy (peanut and nut free), the post office, Town Hall, library and TD Bank for donations from the general public. A new drop off location this year includes Neil Stone’s Karate Academy in Brookline.
Donations of food may be placed in a donation basket at any of the above locations until the baskets are collected. The baskets will be picked up for the final time Thursday, Nov. 18. Donations beyond that date may be brought to the Brookline Safety Complex during the Brookline Women’s Club sponsored blood drive Nov. 23 from 1-6 p.m.
SHARE relies heavily on the donations that they receive from the community through this food drive. The generosity of the community and the Brookline Women’s Club resulted in more than 1,000 food items being donated last year. In 2008, SHARE provided 330 (up from 250 in 2007) Thanksgiving baskets for local families. Any items not used for the Thanksgiving baskets are used for the Christmas baskets (another 330 baskets) or become a part of the ongoing SHARE food pantry.
If you would like to make a donation for a gift certificate, contact Treasurer Diane Stephens at 672-5880.
